The First Ulster County Militia

& Living History Organization, was organized in 1996 in the Mid Hudson Valley of New York State around Kingston. Our desire is to recreate the life & times of the people of Kingston & Ulster County in the years of the American Revolution 1775 - 1783, although our emphasis is on the early war years up to & including the British attack & burning of the City of Kingston in October 1777.

As la Milice de Fort Saint Frederic we portray Canadien militia
fighting for their homes & Louis XV in New France in the Lake Champlain / Lac du Sacrament (Lake George to the Anglais) region of New York during the French & Indian War (1754 - 1763)

As the Crew of Pettiauger "Mercury" we recreate the life of rivermen (& women) on the North (Hudson) River in our 24 foot reproduction 18th century Pettiauger, the first of its kind to ply the waters of the great North River in over 150 years.
